Size matters??
Has anyone run on the track with 17x8.5" wheels up front on a 944? I have run with 16x8" wheels up front with no rubbing issues, but I now find myself with 17x7" turbo twists up front and I am thinking of putting the rear 17x8.5" wheels in front and running 17x8.5" or 17x9" wheels in the rear. Help...

My 944S has 8.5 x 17 wheels in front with 235s. No problems.

If you go beyond 16" wheels, you should consider changing the caster blocks to the 968 ones. This is on a tech bulletin from Porsche and it does change the alignment specifications. Search for a thread from AE1969 or Techno Duck for complete descriptions.

You also adding lots of un-sprung weight to the car... If you have a stock 944 it may decrease overall performance, just FYI.
