oprv spring shimming?

I read that these springs get weak and u can shim it to get it to keep better pressure.

but how do i get to the spring to shim it?

i did a test drive last nite after seeing oil pressure not climb past 3 when revving. i did notice the described behavior that when i accelerate, the oil pressure drops like 1/4 bar or so indicated. not really big amount, but noticeable on the guage.

so yea...i wanna get to shim the spring

I have no idea, but am curious if you have the shimming confused with the 3 piece oprv that the early cars have. I can see how those can be shimmed, but not the one you have, and at $300 a pop, I'm not sure I'd have the balls to find out.

i read the post from clark garage that he talked about shimming his S2...so i was guessing it wasn't exclusive to the early 3 piece....

The threaded gold cap pulls off the valve body. It is pressed on there with an O-ring holding it on. It is a tight fit but you can pull it off, inside is the spring.

Be careful when you do this. You have to be absolutely sure the problem is the OPRV.
I shimmed the OPRV with a 0.8mm flat washer instead of buying a new OPRV. I did it after confirming that my new oil pressure sensor was calibrated right as confirmed by bench testing it using regulated compressed air and I am still only getting 3.8 bars at 4k rpm. I concluded that the OPRV spring is getting weak.
This is how I bench tested the sensor.
Can anyone a good uninstalled oil pressure sender check something for me?

You should be able to separate the body from the hex part. There is an o-ring sitting on a groove inside the hex part. Mount the hex part on a vise and pull the body away from hex part. It should come apart. You will see the spring inside.
The green sketch is the washer location.
