Fender question

I got a new fender and hood this weekend, but I have a question on the fender,
My old fender toward the front bumper was straight at the front tip so that it would fit onto the bumper cover, the new fender that I have is for an exposed bumper (European??). I can live with that, I can get another bumper and fender and go that route. Anyway, other than that, there is about a 1/2" give or take gap between the door and the back section of the fender wheel well. Is there that much of a difference in the fender types that I will not be able to use this one, or could it be where the wreck bent the fittings out of shape a little and not to sweat it till I get the frame fixed?
