Broken Lug Nuts!
Ok, sold my polished Fuchs, Got my other whels in today and went to a tire shop to have the wheels swapped out on the car. The lugs were so tight that out of 20 they were able to only remove 2. They snapped 3 and we stopped there. The snapped off luggs have a very slight lip and not enough to grab with their special socket, so I now have a problem. Any suggestions? I need to get these wheels on a UPS truck. Keep in mind, the are polished Fuchs so a tourch is out.

Take it back to the tire shop that the PO bought the tires at and tell them to remove them... If they refuse, well blow off some steam!

i cringe every time i hear this - it happens way too often and always for the same reasons - i'm not picking on anybody either - it is frequently because somebody just doesn't know better - i feel for you
when you finally get them off do the following 3 things: 1. GET RID OF THE ALUMINUM LUG NUTS - use steel only 2. use anti-seize every time 3. torque by hand ONLY - do not install with an impact gun |

If the snapped lug nuts are the original aluminum ones, you can purchase a hole saw. Just read up on the second link that John has provided. Just be careful when you get close to the finishing point in shaving off the lug to avoid damaging the wheel. I managed to salvage the wheel as well as the stud by leaving a small portion of the lug nut. I then tugged at the wheel and the lug nut just snapped. Yes, I do use anti-seize all around now
. Good luck!

Do it the way tire rack does it. Cover the wheel with a circular piece of cardboard (two wheels to a package), tape it with filament tape and ship it off. Cheaper to pay the additional handing charge than to pay for a box to put it in.

it is a conundrum - if you do not COMPLETELY cover the tire in cardboard that UPS charges a surcharge - i believe it is $5 for each tire - i found this out the hard way - depending on where you have to ship them, it could be less than if you boxed it, or not
