Strut Spring Color Code
Hello Gents,
I have run a search on here and another forum and can not find the answer. I need some help in identifying the color code on some Strut Springs. The springs have two yellow dabs of paint on them. I'm not sure that yellow paint marks contribute to what spring rate they are; I've see yellow paint dabs used where a bolt or part has been torqued or teched to indicate that it has been done and checked. It's possible the shop that installed them marked them to show that they had been seated and the strut bolts were torqued.
I could be wrong though.

a spring with 2 yellow dots is 396mm long 12mm dia with a rate of 125lb/in - they are commonly found on a 944S with sport shocks

Not to hijack the thread, but Flash, I took your advice and didn't go too firm on either the settings of my Konis or the spring rate I chose up front: 200lb Weltmeister springs in the front should be okay with my stock rear torsion bars, at least for now. The change in the car's handling is total. No creaks, no thumps, almost no body roll where previously there was plenty. Even the ride is better than on my original (120K mile) Sachs shocks.
