I pulled my plugs again,...
First,... I took into consideration the NGK BPR7ES plugs this time around,... EXCEPT i used the Autolite version because I could get thats locally for just as cheap. Anyways,... the plugs actually look alot nice this time around. Not all burnt up like the stock bosch plugs.
But,... I did find some oil on the threads for Cyl# 1, 2, and 4. Cyl# 3 was dry and beaultiful. So there was some oil on the threads of the other plugs. Not a HUGE amount but enough to make me worry a bit. I rubbed my thumb across the threads and I got a nice line of oil from what was collected by the crush ring. There was a tiny bit of burnt up oil on ring portion of the tips. My question is,... is this ok? Or or this an early warning sign of something? What are the possiblilities? I know that one possibilty could be piston rings. I am hoping this is not the reason but I wont deny it. Anything else? Am I looking at a very soon complete engine overhaul? Maybe I should do a leakdown. Any tutorials for doing a leakdown? Never done it before.

You're sure it wasn't leakage from the cam tower gasket? My kid's 951, the No. 1 plug always had bunches of oil on it and it drove us nuts till we finally figured out it was coming from the cam tower gasket.
If the electrode portion looks relatively clean and the oil is only on the threads, I'd suspect the gasket, not the rings or valve stems seals.

On other cars, oil on the plug threads isn't always a bad thing, it usually comes from leaky valve cover gasket seals around plug holes that go through a DOHC valve cover. But the 8v 944's aren't like that. There is no reason for oil to be pooling around the plugs and obviously not in the cylinders. So it's definitely a problem to look into finding the source and fixing.

I will do a leakdown in the next few days. If thats checks out ok I will look futher when I remove the manifold.
