Anybody Got One of These?
I need just a bit more low end on my stereo. I was thinking about one of these. I was thinking about mounting it vertical just below the rear seat (haven't check space yet to see if it will fit), or under the passenger seat. I don't think it's powerful enough to mount in hatch and be felt up front. So I kind of ruled that out. Thoughts/suggestions?

If it is strictly a sub (that's what it looks like), it doesn't really matter where it is located inside of the car. My sub is in the back, and it works just fine.

I've been thinking of buying one of those for my 951. I too was thinking about mounting in the floorwell behind the passenger seat. I'd be interested to see what you think of it if you do buy it.
I've got a Bazooka 8" tube in the spare tire well of my 83 and it works well. But if this Kenwood sub sounded good, I'd just as soon use that for the 951 - it'd be easier to wire up, and I could still carry a spare.

The one I have is a cannon, or bazooka, style that is 100W. But like yours, that is probably "peak" power, not continuous. I've had it for quite a few years now. It DOES put the "missing" low end into the music, and then some. But perhaps the most interesting thing about it, is the way I have it mounted. In a word, it "isn't". I have it connected through a fairly long multi-conductor cable with a multi-prong plug. The idea behind this was that if I needed to make use of the space that it was occupying, I could easily move it around, or take it out.

I have a bazoka as well, it works well and I am very happy with it. The sub I have is only 50W but you have to remember that the cabin area in a 944 is small so you dont need a lot of power. If your goal is to just fill in the bottom end to compensate for the tiny speakers in the 944 you should be happy. If you want to be heard from a block away....

JAXTURBO,
I actually have two of these...the previous model though...but I assume the quality to be comparable. I am not using them as subwoofers but rather have them wired up via speaker level through a crossover using them solely as woofers to complement 4x6 plate speakers in the rear of my 968 cabriolet. They are great! I do not have them permanently attached (yet) but they do/will fit under the rear cubbies. I can pull one out and check fitment under the seats in my 968 coupe which should be identical to a 944/951 coupe.

I have heard of some people taking these shallow subs and mounting them underneath the glovebox. I put my 4ch Alpine amp there, so it won't work for me, but that means that there is a nice space there to fit a sub if you want....
Cheers, Keith

Could someone post a pix of one of these mounted under the glovebox? I know they are shallow, but if my wife ever scrapes a leg on it, I would never hear the end of it.
