Quick seat ID question

Hey y'all - just wanted some confirmation. My fuzzy memory is that I got these out of a '82ish 924, but I wanted to make sure that if I got some custom covers (like the Drivewerks Covercraft saddle blanket) that they would fit well enough.

Please don't hurt me too much for installing these seats in an old Jeep... I just love them so much in my 951 that I want that experience everywhere I go!

And in case anybody was curious:

It's a 1980 Cherokee Chief with 3" suspension & 1" body lift, 33" Treadwright M/T's on 15x8 steelies, Steelwerx-fabbed bumper with Hella Rallye 4000's and Firefly CB antenna, Tad-Rack roof rack with Hi-Lift, german army surplus shovel, 2x5gal jerries, ammo can w/recovery equipment. Not visible: MSD 6AL ignition, Ford Motorsports wires, TFI coil, K&N Filter, AMC 360 V8 bored out to 370c.i., RV Cam, Tucked flowmaster & hi-flo cat, Edelbrock IAS shocks, high capacity radiator, Grand Wag headliner and steering wheel, twin size futon mattress, Porsche 924 seats, Clarion/iPod audio, Cobra CB, Sunpro aux gauges, 8000lb hitch...

They look like my seats in my 87 944. Mine are red though.

Hi BK, You can buy just the bottom cover off of ebay and recover the seat yourself. You can remove the bottom cover and have it sewn at an upholstery shop if you don't mind a couple of extra stitches on each side. It will look like a French stitch.

Cheers,
Larry

928 Leather Shop* Porsche Dashboard Restoration Seat Covers Hoodliners also has real nice seat covers. I have bought from them before. A great experience. I had to call them with a question and I got them right away. They were more than helpful.

thanks for the quick responses, guys - I'm specifically looking to recover in saddle blanket material to match the "chief" interior. My 944 has power seats and the bolsters feel more bolster-y, so I just wanted to make sure there wasn't too much of a difference...

Stock, the motor in that Jeep gave me right around 300 lb-ft of torque, and it certainly ain't stock anymore... Good ol' American iron produces the vast majority of that power under 1800rpm. The motor in the 944 would feel like an absolute pig in that beast, especially with the K27 turbo. Add in an engine compartment that easily swallows my 6 liter pushrod engine, I could probably put two or three 944 motors. Not that the thought hasn't crossed my mind or anything... I wonder how hard it would be to get the transaxle working right with the 4x4?

Na, 928S engine is needed here. Reduces noseweight, plenty of power.

Hehe... I've thought of that a few times. Some day I want to build a traditional rat rod with a modern fuel injected german motor (though my top choice has always been an M30B34 from an '80s BMW 535).
