Okay that's odd... super low speed wobble....

This one is making me a bit uneasy. It JUST started after i got my car to work. The car has felt fine till today. I was backing out, turned the wheel and sort of coasted out of my parking spot and a massive wobble, as if i had a really BAD flat tire came from the right side of the car.

I drove back into the spot and it did the same, a bit less. Tried driving straight back, worked fine. Backed out again straight back, nothing. Turned wheel, drove back, did it again.

Drove it around the parking lot and it seemed fine. Even tried turning sharp around the parking lot on 90 degree turns, no weird wobble. Only at very low speed. Either that or at normal speed it's so minimal it's not noticeable.

I went and drove the car around town, it was fine. Drove it back, went to park, did it again.

It FEELS like it's coming from the front, moderate turning is fine. Turn sharp at low speed, horrible.

Doesn't matter if it's in gear or not in gear, i can coast into my parking spot and it will do it, so doesn't appear to matter if it's under load or not.

I'm a bit concerned.... I'm going to prop it up on stands when I get home and see if i can find the culprit. Any leads? Ideas?

There's also no feedback through the steering wheel, it feels smooth. You can literally let the car roll back at a crawl and feel it sort of almost like it's rolling up on something and back down it, that's about how it feels, like i'm going over a big speed bump.

Okay, that's it - you're cut off!

I'd say road imperfections or loose lug nuts.

Ah... wonder if some ******* loosened them? That would be weird... but not impossible. I'll check that out before I leave.. I can't believe I didn't check that first. Seems weird it just started after I parked at work.

Road imperfections I do not believe to be a variable since i've reproduced it in 3 different places, spots, parked in the same spot many a time and it's never done this. Does it forward or backward. Oddly enough if I turn the wheel the OPPOSITE way, I can feel the weird wobble from the same side (passenger side). So it's something over there....

On a separated cord is this something internally in the tire? Driving straight is fine. It's only as I'm easing out of a parking spot, or slowly inching back in.

Don't cut me off, I wanted some scotch tonight!

PS: Had a co-worker check it out as I backed out, he saw nothing unusual, said he could just see the front of the car shake as I backed out.

Check your ball joints. Jack the front of the car, grab a wheel, give a good shake to see if you get it to move.

All right, Johnny Walker Blue perhaps.

I'll bite on the tire cord/belt. Internal defect in tire. Although our early 924 did this until I ditched the crappy aftermarket wheels it had on it. But in that case the shake at speed was noticeable.

Not noticeable at all at speed. Like I said... it's literally at a crawl. After that it seems normal as it normally would. Unless of course it's so small it's not noticeable at speed.

Negatory on the Johnny walker blue... i've got some Aberlour 16 yr single malt and Dalwhinnie.

I get sort of the same thing with the 968; as I'm backing out of a parking space with the wheel turned pretty sharp, I get a single jolt. As I start moving forward, it happens again.

I can attribute it to a specific set of tires/wheels (my current BFG G-Sport street tires on 16" D-90's) the track wheels and tires don't do that at all. It sure doesn't feel like anything I can attribute to a bad tire, but everything else in the front end checks out.

I'm rather baffled. I got it up on stands, checked everything out and it appears to be fine. I took it for a drive and could no longer reproduce it, it just sort of..... stopped.... I have a vacant road out by my house in this subdivision that never got built, I took it out there and did lots of going in reverse in different directions, different speeds, super tight steering, it never did it again.

I heard no loud noises or anything indicative of a problem and could find nothing other than my normal power steering leak.

Rather stumped....

One variable though - it was -5F yesterday and most of the day 0 to 5F during the day. Is it possible I had a CV joint locked up or something from the cold?

may have just had something stuck on the tire, or a clod of dirt in the wheel, or something like that

Checked all the tires before i left... nothing was in the tread. I rolled it back inch by inch. Doesn't explain why it would do it when turning, i'd feel it rolling straight.

If it does it again tonight i'll put it up again on stands and check it out again.

Sounds strange, like something in your parking spot, greasy, or oily, or "icy" only slipping when the wheel is up on it's camber/castor maximum... maybe even small bead of ice, building up between the tire treads, from dripping off inner fender or ood thing like that.
