My 87 944 cruise will not hold a steady speed is there any way to fix this?

oh boy, can't wait to see where this thread goes because I've been fighting a losing battle with my 84's CC for a few years...

I had the same issue. It would surge and go crazy. I replaced the brain and the part in the engine compartment. Now it works fine. Some have had success re-soldering bad solder joints in the brain. I am sure others will have better suggestions...

I only re-soldered the ones that I thought "looked" like they might be bad. But maybe the bad one(s) isn't very noticeable, so my next step is to do them ALL.

The part in the engine compartment is called the (electric) servo unit. Many vehicles use a vacuum servo. But I think stuttgart refers to it as the actuator, or something like that. I did a complete rebuild on mine. It works as good as, or better than, a new one.
