What does it mean when I have to start my car this way? lol
 

Hey Guys

Its been a while since I've been on here as the Porsche was running fine...Not this morning. It started fine this morning. I went to the gas station to grab something for breakfast and when I was leaving I was like, "well I might as well get gas while I'm here."

So I start the car and move it to the fuel pump...Turn the car off. Pump my gas. Start the car...Or Not. The car just turned over and turned over never starting. So I pop the hood, fiddle with the reference sensors...Still no start. I sit for an hour trying to start the car every few minutes to see if I could get some miracle start...I didn't.

Finally, I think about what I can do to get it rolling...I started the car in gear with the clutch in. As I turned the key I let off the clutch and pushed the gas (causing the car to lurch forward) and that combined with the turning over started the car.

I drove back home, parked in the driveway and tried to start again...Same thing. So I put the car in reverse and started the same way that I did at the gas station and it started right up.

What would cause this? It's almost like, the car rolling is giving off some extra voltage or something. But I don't even know if that makes sense.

Sounds like your ignition switch is failing......sometimes when they go bad, they will send power to the starter but not to the ignition. There is probably a test procedure on Clark's Garage, or maybe in the factory repair manual.

+1 on ignition switch, also possible you have a failing DME relay and the movement is helping it to jostle the connection.

DME Relay. Check if you have spark when cranking, a spark tester costs about 20 bucks and you rule out the crank sensors. Check clarks garage.

. . .or you could use a timing light if you have one laying around.
