Fog Light Fix?
Need advice!! I use my fog lights a lot instead of the head lights during rain or twilight. Recently they quit working in tandem. I replaced the relay and they still don't work. The switch still lights up. Any ideas/tips on diagnosing?
Thanks, Jeff ![]() |

Hate to rain on your parade but it is illegal in a lot of states to use fog lights instead of headlights. You should check with your state's statutes just in case.

Check the fuse and the brown ground wires. What watt bulbs r u using? I was using my fogs like that to and put 100wt bulbs in but they would get to hot for the housing and blow out withing 2 weeks. Went back to the 55wt months ago and have had no problem.

Fogs are fogs and you shouldn't use over 55 watt bulbs due to light back scatter when you get into fog or rain conditions.
If you are running 100 watt H-3 bulbs ..... depending on manufacture they probably have a design life well under 100 hours - like in the 50 hour range, believe it or not. That is why they are burning out so quick, not the heat. |

Thanks guys!
1)I use them as a saftey feature, aren't they used this way in Europe? It's got to be better than people who use just the running lights, (some cops do), which is illegal. 2) using stock bulbs 3) Will check the fuse again as well as the brown wires. Jeff |
