Angry Shifter Issues

Ok so i was on here a while back asking questions about my master/slave cylinder and replacing them to fix my clutch, well all went well and i was able to drive the car and the clutch worked fine. UNTIL yesterday im driving home and as i stop at a light i go to put it in first and it takes alot of force to get it in, with the clutch pedal completely pushed in. I finally got it into first and then shifting into second it took alot of force again to get it out of first and then into second. This problem occured all the way into fifth gear (being the hardest to get into). I asked my bro-in-law and he mentioned i may have air in the lines, would air cause this problem or is it something going on with my transaxle/shifter linkage?

Air in the lines could be a good guess. Sounds like the clutch isn't completely disengaging.

If you've never changed the brake/clutch fluid, this might be a good time to do it.

If that doesn't do the trick and there are no mechanical problems with the clutch itself, then perhaps it's the master or slave that's failing.

Check the shift lever linkage under the leather and rubber boot. Is the "E" clip still in place?

yeah ive replaced the master and slave cylinder a couple months back, i never completely drained the fluid and added fresh in, and is the "e" clip the piece that goes around that sort of bigger covering to the smaller metal rod thats like the center of the shifter? to keep it in place?

in this photo check part # 15---the "E" clip and the security bolt at the transaxle part #19 (should have a security wire on it).

ok, so i tried bleeding the clutch, it seemed to help a little bit, but the hose i was using didnt get a good seal, so im gunna try and bleed is again with a smaller hose with the vacuum bleeder. also does anyone know if its possible to screw up the synchronization of the gears? or if it could be something with the plates?

and yes i have full pedal motion up and down, it pushes back, and pumping it a couple times when driving seems to do it some good in helping to shift, however 3rd gear seems to always catch/grind a little bit regardless of pumping

Yeah, sounds like you haven't got the clutch fully bled. They are a PITA to do. And if you don't fix it, but continue to drive through it, you stand a good chance of wrecking your trans too - much more expensive to fix!!!

You need to get the butt of the car way up in the air, as high as possible; the angle helps greatly to get air in the slave all the way to the back of the slave cyl.

Doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with your linkage.
