Porsche Crest Clicking noise when I shift

I just bought an 88 944S and have been driving it 4 about a week now. Just yesterday, I noticed that whenever I depress the clutch pedel, I hear a "click" noise. Now I know these cars have many "clicks" going on in the dash, but why would it "click" when I let the clutch pedel out??? It does it just as the pedel is just about all the way out.

This is my first post......I'm a brand new Porsche owner. I'm giddy with excitement!!!! OK - now I'm settled down a bit.

Weeeeeee!!!!

HI ya,

welcome to the Porsche brigade.

wow giddy excitement !!!

ok, you could try this check first.

go to the transaxle (gearbox at rear), there's a long tube which runs from there to the clutch up front (caled a torque tube)

You'll find an inspectioin rubber boot on the gearbox wre they meet. open it up and you'll see the actual tube, if yopu grab it and give it a twist in either direction, if you get a clankin or clicking noise this means the clutch is on it's way out. Start savinng BIG BUCK's

if not could still be something not quite right, maybe someone else here can tell you what it is or what to look for.

hope this helps

Adrian

If the sound is coming from inside the cabin, check the pedal stops. Sounds like the sound that mine made before I adjusted the pedal travel.

Mine does it when the Cruise Control is on. It's the sound of the CC releasing until you shift and release the clutch again, when it kicks in again. Is that the sound you hear?

Ahhhhhh - I never thought 2 check if my Cruise Control had anything 2 do with it!!! It's an "electronic click", like the one U hear in the glove box when the injectors first fire up.

Everytime I bring the clutch pedel all the way out, it clicks just I take my foot off the pedel. It is consistant and clicks every time.

I'll check if the CC is on, other than that, I don't know what it could B??

That is what I was guessing - I figured there was some sort-of "clutch sensor" somewhere's right by the Fog light switch and it "clicks" whenever the clutch is let out. Anyone else hear this noise ever?? As long it running good (right, brett25), I won't worry about it right now.

....unless someone tells me this is a major problem.
