is the only difference the fact that one comes with a belt guard and the other doesnt? if i already have the belt guard from my old pump should i get the first one without it?

if my motor already has these rollers in good shape why replace them, unless the bearing fails correct?

DP944, the 2 Pelican Parts product info points out to early pump (-01X) and late pump (-04X). I always replace all the rollers while I'm in there because the job is a PITA and I don't want to go back in there for another 35k or so. I also change the wp every second belt and roller change. Some may consider this overkill but I have not ever been stranded on the road with my car in all the years I've owned it. The call is yours.

early doesn't have a belt guard plate. late does.

iirc, if u upgrade from an early to a late, u need the late idler roller.

of course if u stay early, u don't need the roller unless yours are shot.

Correct. That is why he should upgrade to a new water pump (turbo pump) 951 106 021 10 which is the correct upgrade to the early water pump. It has correct rollers and belt guard included but requires a block off plate.
