Bad A/C Compressor Switch
I am trying to get the a/c in my '87 944 working again but have a bad dash compressor switch. I've heard that there are certain climate control units that have removable switches. Pelican sells these replacement switches for late model 944's. My question is, do all of the late model boards have removable switches? Also, the switches sell for about $100... Ugh. Is there anyway to bypass the button and use some kind of aftermarket switch for the A/C? Thanks in advance!

All the ones I have seen the switches are soldered in. With that said I have a controller with bad electronics but good switches if you wanted to replace yours yourself I'd sell it for $20

Hello,
Hope this is proper - trying to help. I have a complete control unit you could have. Used but all worked perfect before pulling it out - $50.00 + 10.00 ship. It looks very nice also. (I was going to keep it in case my normal control unit went out, but I can always get another- I paid 50 for it so that keeps it even). Ed. nushi@q.com <---------- email is better for me. |
Whne I bought my 944S, the PO said the switch was bad and had a new one ready to go in. Mine was soldered, but I found out it was the relay that was actually bad.

How do you know the switch is bad? e.g. have you used your meter on it, or are you assuming that the compressor not kicking in = bad switch? Keep in mind that the system is designed to cut out if there is not sufficient pressure...

I suppose if i were able to find a new button cap (The part with the snowflake on it) the switch itself would work fine. I'd be surprised if i could find just that part. Quote:
Thanks for the help! |
Hey, just saw you were in ABQ. I should still have the new one I got from the PO. PM me your number. I live way out near Vetanna Ranch if you want it and I can find it.
