removing transaxle problem
When removing the transaxle how do you get the shaft out of the transmition. I can not get them to come apart. I have removed the clamping sleeve and slid it back but the steel pipe "drive shaft" will not come out of the transaxle....

Try the link out below. Read it several times and it should be easy to do. Just work slow and be careful.

You take the bolts all the way out of the clamping sleeve then slide it back towards the transaxle. The drive shaft itself doesn't move; the clamping sleeve has splines and it joins the drive shaft (in the torque tube) and the transaxle input shaft together.
If you have the clamping sleeve slid back into the transaxle bellhousing recess, then you're ready to do the transaxle mounts and bellhousing bolts (assuming you've already disconnected the CV joints and shifter linkage and backup light wiring). I forget what else. Clark's procedure (Larry gave you the link) lays it all out really well.
