Part question for power seats
On a full (8-way) power seat, the movement forwards and backwards along the rails is achieved by a motor turning threaded rod, which moves back and forth through a bracket attached to the seat rail bolted to the floor. I've circled the gold-colored bracket (which is held on to the seat rail by two bolts, visible):
![]() ![]() A close-up: ![]() I need to replace this bracket; the "nut" inside the bracket (if that's what it is) is stripped, allowing it to move freely along the threaded rod. The seat in the photos is a right hand seat (which would be the passengers seat in the US and other LHD countries), and so finding a part from another right hand 8-way power seat might be tough -- I think that it was rare for the passenger seats to be full 8-way power seats (at least in the earlier years). My question is whether the bracket from a left hand seat (which would be the outer rail) would work for me? The tricky thing you can't really see in the photos is that the threaded rod is reverse thread for the bracket on the circled side, but normal thread for the bracket on the uncircled side. I'm guessing the bracket has to be the correct (i.e., reverse or normal thread) to work. Is the outer threaded rod (i.e., the one nearest the door) on a left hand side full power seat (i.e., driver's side seat in the US) reverse threaded or normal threaded? My guess is it would also be a reverse thread rod, in which case perhaps the bracket would work to replace mine. Any advice from power seat gurus appreciated. ![]()
