Turn signals don't work, PLEASE!!
i checked several threads on pelican and can't figure it out.
As i switch the turn signal, it shown on (not flashing) on the dash, the outside lamps are not on. i checked the hazard switch and it works= the relay #11 (turn signal) works. re: hazard switch, there is an external wire that goes to the single point on the hazard switch, is this for positive power supply? i checked the fuse #8 and it is ok because i replaced it to check. what other steps should i take??? i can't drive the car without turn signals! thanks, ernest

When you hit the hazards, did it flash at all four corners of the car? If so, have you replaced any of the signal bulbs?
The relay expects a certain load to help it switch, so if I bulb is out or the bulbs are not to spec it will sometimes "stick." Also, did you actually replace the relay or just check it by using the hazards?

I JUST FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!
it was the extra wire to the bottom of the hazard switch. i had a blue (positive) power connected. it has its own blue/blk connector. Sorry guys, but i just put in a new leather dash and these things happen.. THANKS PELICANISTAS!!!!

the turn signals would only show on the dash but not blink. i went through the forum's threads and found the link between the hazard switch and the turn signals. i would have NEVER thought of that. there is a wire that was not attached to the switch and then....VOILA. Everything worked again.

Hey Thoen,
I am having the same exact turn signal issue you had about a year ago. I just replaced relay and hazards blink on all four corners and when i hit the turn signal, all i get is a solid green light on the gauge. I haven't touched my dash and my turn signals worked a week ago. The only switch on the car I've had to mess with is the sunroof switch. Does the hazard switch pop off the dash the same way as the sunroof switch comes out of the console? I want to see if your fix helps me. Thanx, Randy early 85 na |

The Hazard Switch -
To remove/repair/replace the hazard switch one must remove the long dash trim piece - that's the one that encloses the hazard switch/clock/cig. lighter and goes all the way over to the passenger vent. There are two small flat insert panels covering the two sets of two screws (Two screws ea. under ea. of the flat covers) - While you are doing this be reminded that these dash panels are 20 years old and much more brittle than new, they are easy to break. If the end with the flange with the two screw mount is broken off a new panel from Pelican is $40.00 - Once you have removed the four screws the vent end is snapped into place behind the extreme dash end. Remove panel by unplugging wires and then pull the inner side out first and the far end will be easier to remove. Once you have this dash trim panel off the hazard switch unplugs from behind - locked in place with plastic retainer mounts - be careful here also as the plastic is brittle from age.

Hey Kidd,
Thanx for the instructions, but are those for a 1985.5 and later car? I have an early 85 with the old 924 interior. My hazard switch is on a panel by my right knee below and to the right of the steering wheel. The clock and cig lighter are both on the center gauge cluster with the radio and hvac controls. Thanx, Randy |

Sorry - yes for 85.5 and later - Gen II 944 - my bad
The switches are very similar and the early comes out from behind the panel also
