Even more confused...

took the best pic i could, but you should get the idea of where the starter wires go. should have 3 of them in total, 4 if your ground is split

Starter Wire Connector in Engine Bay

Hello and Thanks again for replying...and crawling under the car to take the pic. But the starter connector wire I'm talking about is in the engine compartment. It's on the firewall and in front of the heater core/blower. Your thumb is touching the wire in your picture and my index finger is pointing to mine. I know where it leads to, but I don't know where it's coming from. The starter wire connector is a green wire encased in a yelllow piece of plastic which slips into a black rubber casing. The green wire leads to the starter, but I need to know where the black rubber casing section connects.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1271861513.jpg

The good news is that I believe I figured out the vacuum lines and the starter wire connector can be replaced with a straight wire. The black rubber boot/yellow casing is simply a quick disconnect.

Thanks again,
Mike

ah, the large bare wire your touching is a engine ground, it connects to the firewall just under all the wires there should be a threaded bolt sticking out. the red wire that goes to green that seems to be broken in your picture goes to the O2 sensor on mine.

The red wire "connection" is an optical illusion. It is not connected to the green wire at all. Please refer to the previous post pics to see that the "black wire" you're touching with your thumb is what I'm talking about. Is this what you're referring to as the ground or is this something else? If it's a ground, problem solved. I've included another picture to clarify. It's from a different angle and my index finger is touching the black boot/wire that I'm talking about..http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1271876916.jpg

Thanks so much. We're so close to getting this running that I'm giddy with excitement. Nine months is way too long of time not to be driving this fine piece of German engineering!

black to green sorry, was 4am here and was a bit tired lookin at the pic. same connection though that goes to the O2 sensor, mine has 2 white and one black, though its a newer sensor. those 6 brown wires that join into the eyelet conections also connect to the ground point on the rear of the engine with the larger single ground. also keep in mind for further electrical issues on your car, All brown wires are a ground.

was originally used for the O2, if you ran new wires with your new O2 then its just there. i spliced my new one into it to keep the wiring to the dme the same.

Here is three different view of my ex 83-944 maybe you can zoom on it & it migth give you an idea where thing goes, disregard the red wire on top running along the firewall ( this was connected to some extra accessories) ,hope it help ,good luck with your project:)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1271903861.jpg

Ahh. While further looking into this, I found the black wire had slipped down into the sheath and was hidden from view. The final clue was when I saw three wires (two white & one black) at the bottom and only two white ones in the separate connection at the top. y=mx+b and the rest is history. Thanks so much!:D
