I could be wrong, but I really don't see stock chips fixing the problem. If the reman DME isn't at fault, then the PO who replaced the original DME with the reman unit, never actually fixed whatever the problem was. It may indeed be AFM calibration. But if that doesn't take care of it, the problem has got to be that the DME is receiving an improper signal from a sensor, such as the CT or TP sensors.

I am not positive about a lot yet... I know the O2 sensor is new, so I have removed that from the list of variables.

I will set the CO with the AFM (now that I know where to work). And use that to remove a couple more variables.

The plugs look new per the PO's statement. (though showing rich issue of course).
And the spark wires are new, with a new rotor.

Concurrently, I am cleaning the fuel system. First with a Lucas treatment, and now Techron (separate fillings) with Chevron 91 being used as the fuel. I am planning on seafoaming her as well and have new Oil and a new Mahle filter waiting for her immediately following.

I am almost certain I can expect (just my luck) to replace the Cat as well, I just need to give the cat a chance... right now it's hardly a fair fight :)

The stock chips are in. She still scoots along, but sheesh she seems so tame now. :)

After this emissions stuff is over, the welts are going back in! I did notice when I looked at them they have a CARB #, so I hope in the future that this chip change won't be an issue. This car has had a long life already, and maybe when she is "all better" a chip set won't fail her.
