Car Care: Car Cover recommendation for freshly painted 951S: Texas Sun
My work is unfortunately "full sun" for my 951S, or any of my other Porsche's.
I'm looking for a sun/bird poop-proof cover that still breathes so I can leave my windows down to prevent the interior from baking. Suggestions on material compositions?? Mark

I have the "Silverlight 2" outdoor cover from the dealer, and it has worked fine for the past 4 years or so in the AZ sun. The threads are now starting to rot slightly from the constant UV exposure, but overall much better performance than the original dealer cover.
I have also heard good things about the California Covers. Cheers, Keith

don't put any cover on it at all for the first 6 weeks
then, make sure that it is one that breathes also, do not wash it with any kind of soap for at least 2 weeks, and then only mild soap for the next 4 weeks do not apply any wax or any buffing for 6 weeks |

Check out the WeatherShield HD cover by Covercraft. A friend has one and it has held up very well over the years. I have a Tyvek (same material used to wrap houses) one and it is going on 6+ years and still is holding up great with some small tears... i figure its time for a new one anyhow and have a WeatherShield on order. My car is parked 6+ months out of the year usually including some brutal winters and very hot summers.

Cover on fresh paint is a killer so beware.Sorry to go against what Flash is saying but after 2 or 3 weeks you should be able to cover it up, but like mention with a cover that breath,as far as washing water only for a couple of weeks (gentle spray with a garden hose)after like he said a mild soap apply with a good quality washing mite the important thing is to make sure there is no dust or residues in your washing bucket, wax (don't want to start any debate here but I'll suggest Meguiar's NTX Tech Wax 2.0 easy to apply & give you quiet a beatiful finish witch will last a long time) & I'll agree not for at least 6 weeks no buffer by hand only & on a very cool surface.

thanks for the advice, though I am a multiple concours winner.
![]() I'm just looking for car cover advice: low heat transfer, poop-protection. My new Glasurit will be baked on in the booth & will have about a month of free air & sun before I cover it. I'll color-sand & buff it out in 3-4 months.
