side market gasket source & hatch mylar at body source?
I'm painting my car, would like to replace the sidemarker gaskets for all 4: source??
What are people using to reinstall their tail lights (black silicone?) lastly, trying to find the textured mylar that surrounds each hatch lock at the rear; sticks on the body. Anyone know about that one?? Mark

# 1 they do not sell just the seal for the side lamps to the body . it comes with the side lamps only . porsche's list price for the side lamps are 33 dollars each for the fronts and 29 dollars for the rears . #2 3M ribbon seal for the tail lamps part # 08611 . #3 i have clear (over lays ) smooth finish on all 6 of my porsche 944's were the rear strickers are . i have never seen textured ones even for the years i worked at porsche . the only textured over lays are the stone guards on the sides of the car and there black . you can go to a place like pep boys and get a small roll of clear over lay for cheap and cut them out your self . or if you are looking for the ones on the side of the car you can go to kevin's cycle .com look for FX universal number plate back grounds 16mill pack of 3 12"x 18" you will need 2 packs the ones on the front fenders are just about 17" tall and will use one sheet each for them . make templates from the ones on the car and just cut them out of the new steets .

What is this? I can't picture it, and I just replaced my hatch pins and pulled out the lock and mechanisms to clean and oil yesterday, but I can't picture the mylar surrounds. Is this an optional item?

it came with a sticker kit . you can't get them any longer . they were clear plastic .it had scratch guards for under the door handles and rub guards were the strickers (latchs)are on the body along with any over lay on the mirrors and just under the head lamps on the front panel. they were pricey and did not sell so i think it was just a 2 or 3 year offer . i ended up buying a **** load for cheap (like 5 or10 dollars each set ) along with some 928 ones . back in the day people did the bra thing . thats good for us body shops but not that good for your car . i have repaint more noses on cars from ill fitting bras god i wish they were still popular!

I resealed my taillights using a 3M product for sealing windshields. It came in a black roll having the same pliability as the old seal.

Yes, the clear textured mylar was in the shape of a rectangular "U" and surrounded the hatch receivers on both sides of the hatch: it appeared to protect the paint against the rubber spreadding on the paint each time the hatch is closed.
