Late offset rims on an early car

Other then looking absolutely ridiculous, can this cause any damage?

Thanks,
-Ryan

This won't cause damage but the wheels will look skinny due to the fact that they will sit closer to the center of the car and the gap between the tire & fender will be much greater. You can compensate for this with spacers but you will also need to increase the lug size.

I put 928 phone dials on my late offset 944. The 928 offset is 65mm and the 944 is 52mm. At the time, I did not realise this. Every time I looked at the car, I felt something looked odd but I couldn't quite figure it out. Then, I measured the tires from outside edge to outside edge 944 wheels vs 928 and the difference was 3 inches total.

Attached is a photo of the 928 wheels on my car - it doesn't look too bad but the gap between the fender and the wheel was pretty big - enough that I eventually switched to the proper wheel.

Unfortunately, with an early car, it will be even more noticable (ie., 65 - 52mm = 13mm difference vs 52 - 23mm = 29mm difference)

That's why you should go aftermarket!

Thats sick looking! Awesome. I would assume that it would be the opposite for early offset on a late car. That being the wheels would be closer to the fenders. I think having a late offset car sucks. You can only use late offset wheels where and early car can use either. just as long as the car uses the right spacers.

Thanks for the compliment! Other than the stock .75" spacers in the rear, there are no other spacers used on these rims. These are Works Meister 3PC rims 18x11 in the front - 18x12 in the rear. The body is not stock - check out my build page when you get a chance
