944 Scale Models?
Does anyone know of a place to buy a scale model of a 944? I’m looking for one to complement the rest of the Porsche paraphernalia on my desk at work.

E-bay is one of the better sites. I found a King Size matchbox replica of my '84 944 in the exact same color (black).

I know of only two:
A Matchbox 944 Turbo (White) from the 1998 Premium Collection: World Class Series 19: Supercars (2 of 6) (1/64 scale) A Burango 924 Turbo Racecar (Boss #25) in 1/24 scale. The Burango you can probably 'disguise' as a 944. I have both of these cars. The 924/944/968 series scale models are hard to come by. Can't even find the kits anymore. -Zoltan.

I have an NZG brand 1/43 944 on my desk that I bought from a vendor at the race track during a historic weekend in Seattle. Also found a good selection at an ALMS weekend at Portland Int'l Raceway lattended last summer.

E-bay worked for me, hard to find though ! I found 2 951 1/24th scale kits (built one -keeping the other one un-finished) both un-opened boxes & a 951 matchbox (still mint in the box) same colour to boot !!

Italeri made a Porsche 944 cabrio model in 1:24 that was manufactered in 1985, and it comes with a turbo motor(?)
Hasegawa makes(made?) a 968 and 968 Club Sport model both in 1:24. I'm pretty sure Hasegawa has made a 944 Turbo model at some point, as my 968 parts tree has a 968 engine and most of the 944 turbo engine parts but not all. Hope this helps. Chris |

If anybody finds a source to order online, please post here.
For scale models, I usually go to http://www.exoticar.com but they don't have 944's. Plenty of 911's though. |

Like many of you, i have also been looking for a 944 scale model. The 911 scale models are everywhere, but i have never seen one for the 944 that is larger than a matchbox car, but i have heard that they do exist.
I heard that the factory gave away models of the 944 in europe, when you bought a real 944 (new, obvoiusly) This give-away was very limited edition, and the model that you were given was painted to match your car. Has anybody else heard of these? or possibly have one. This was told to me by a model vendor at the Rennsport reunion. He said they are very difficult to come across. He knew of only one other model made of the 944, which is also long out of production. These were also very limited production, and are very rare also. To those of you that are lucky enough to have some type of 944 model, how about some pictures. |

There was one that was being sold on ebay just less than a week ago. It was going for more than $30. Completely brand new, and you get the fun of putting it together to boot! But yah, they do exist, so check ebay every once in awhile for em!
