RE: 924 starter motor heat shield
Replaced my starter moter last night.
About normal.....every 3-4 years. On the motor it stated as not to void the warranty the heat shield MUST be re-installed. My 924 never had one......have not seen one either. Anyone ever fabricated one? If so...design? did it work With how close the starter motor is to the exhaust header it really needs one |

I have the factory one on my 924. There's two heat shields. One that bolts to the pan rail and wraps around the starter and mounts to the motor mount bracket.
The second is bolted to the frame between the exhaust manifold and motor mount and protects the motor mount from the heat. This shield connects to the shields that run under the center of the car. I'm sure someone has an extra one lying around.
