Car just stopped running.

Here is the problem. The car just stopped running while sitting at a stop light, and would not restart. It will crank over but not run. I found out that the distributor cap was bad and the rotor was broken. I replaced those two and it still doesn't run. I am not getting spark to the spark plugs. Checked the coil and it appears good.(?) Resistance readings 1.0 - .9ohms between the positive and negative on coil, and about 6500ohms between output wire and negative on coil. Clarks garage says the correct ohms are .4 - .6ohms and 5000 - 7200ohms. I checked spark with the spark plug directly on the coil output wire (like clarks garage says to) and got nothing. Does that mean that my coil is bad? Could it be the DME relay?

So now I am thinking that probably is the coil. Now that it is dark outside I can truly see if I am getting spark or not. With the spark plug directly connected to the coil output wire, I will get a spark once out of about 30 tries, the way clarks says to. I guess I am going to buy a coil unless someone can come up with another test or option. Thanks

DME or fuel pump maybe?

Would the fuel pump make it not spark? I just ordered a coil, so atleast I have that coming. How can I check the DME for no spark. DME or DME relay?

DME relay checks out fine. I actually have a spare one too that I checked and it is fine too. Hope the coil fixes the problem.

+1 wiggle the Speed and Reference sensor connectors.

You may also want to check your timing. Set the motor to TDC and verify your timing marks on the cam gear and the flywheel. If you are off then you may have broke your timing belt. Not trying to scare ya but it's happened to me twice just sitting at a stop light.

That is so bizarre... My buddy's belt broke at idle at a red light last fall. I hope that is not the case here but...

That's exactly what happened to me, and it was the belt. Does the car seem like it is cranking easier when you try to start it?

Yup, and that's a real bad sign...

Ok, still no spark. I replaced the coil, and still no spark. This is a list of things I have done, or checked or both:

New coil
new distributor cap and rotor
fuel pump fuse is good
DME relay is good(I have 2)
Fuel comes out of injectors when cranked
Timing belt is good (thank God)
Different spark plugs
Checked continuity to everything I could(wires, spark plug wires ect.) And ohms
Wiggled sensor connections
Sensors bracket didn't come loose, so I guess sensors are still adjusted right
The tach does bounce when cranking the engine

And now I have a big confused look on my face.

How about a ground cable braking, maybe the one to the engine? That could be why I don't get any spark when I ground the spark plug to the engine itself. I will try to ground the spark plug to the body of the car and see if I get spark. I can't think of anything else.

All Right, and the winner is, the engine ground cable!

I grounded the spark plug to the body of the car and I get SPARK!!!

All I need now is a new ground cable.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I can always count on the people here to help out, and I appreciate all of it.
