8", late offset wheels fit under my 931 rears, after I rolled the fender lip. I used 6" up front, and with the stock springs, I could barely get my finger between the tire (205/50) and the spring.

Gratuitous pic:

The standard 924 4 lug n/a wheels are 6J

so i guess 6J front and 7J rear would be most comfortable? widest option - without body work modification

whats the late offset

Actually I think the best setup would be 7s front and rear (a thin spacer can be used up front to get the tire off the spring).

The "late offset" 911 wheels are around 50 ET.

interesting

so a 7J wheel with a spacer would still fit within the body?
id like to use 944 cookie cutters. They all seem to be 7j with 944 offset

Cookies are "early offset." Call Wheelenhancement.com for more ideas and advice.

Confirm this fits. I run Cup 93 993 16x7 ET55 wheels all round, 225/50 rear, 205/55 front. Front needs a 7mm spacer (I have KW v3 coil overs, so spring clearance is not a problem, but rub on full lock inside wheelwell is). Rear has 5mm spacer just to widen the track a bit.

Offset is the difference between the wheels centerline and the mounting surface

"early" offset refers to an offset in the 10-23mm range. These would include cookie cutters, fuchs and some phone dials. "Late" offset refers to the 40-65mm range. These would include some phone dials, D90s, Clubsports, Dish/trashlids style wheels (928 wheels).

An early offset won't fit because it pushes too much of the rim to the "outside" of the fender. 924s run "late offset" wheels to get thier width towards the inside of the fender well, hence the concern of rubbing a strut/spring.

fuchs are early offset only (iirc) but because they are a sort after rim, you can buy copys made in late offset. what exactly do you have on your 924? i know you were going to 5 stud but from which year? 944's changed to late offset in 87

You can put 7X15 cookies in the back (you'll need to pull the 21mm spacer and go with shorter studs, but they wll fill the wheel wells up nicely) and then put 6X15 cookies upfront (bolt right up and look great). Or just put 6X15 cookies all the way around.
