Skidpad rating

I read that stock 88 turbos pull like .90 G's on the skid pad in 88, does anybody know what it is with modern tires? Has anyone tested this? Also, what kind of G's do 944 race cars pull with slicks and lots of suspension stuff? I know it depends on other stuff, but I'm sure someone has a range. Just curious, thanks guys!

I bought an app for my iPhone that appeared to work pretty well until i took it to a parking lot and it told me I pulled .99. I stopped using that app after that.

it isn't all that had to pull over 1G, if you are willing to set the car up for it - just tires though won't get you there, though it will get you a couple of tenths over stock

Holy cow that would be fun.

Wild man, not a reference to that commercial, although I do know which one you're referring to. This actually came about because a friend of mine bought a GT500 and was looking up specs, and I wanted to compare my car to it, which led to more questions

Don't forget to compensate for body lean - at least if you're anywhere near stock spring rates.

Once you get up to 30mm torsion bars, that problem goes away. (my racecar's running 34's - if I can't hit 1.2g, I'm not trying)

If you have the Gen 2 Goodyear Supercar tires on your '44, you'd have no problem beating the Rustang on the skidpad. Great tires - well, once it's above 70 degrees and you get some heat in 'em! LOL

Do the the 951S stock TB's go 30? Anyways, is THAT the make/model of tire that boasts 1G+ in the commercial? I can't remember. Gotta go now. I want to get my exhaust on before the rains start today.

LOL, no the 30's would be strictly the aftermarket ones.

Truck rear end FTL is sure right! We race against the older 4-cyl Rustangs in ITB (with our 924's)... they handle OK in a straight line, but have a tough time putting the power down as well as the 924/944 rear end... and the front end is absolute crap, even worse than the rear...

We spot them 300cc's in motor, 100 or more lbs, and they still are well behind. The hot exhaust setup for them apparently is the exhaust manifold from a Ford Ranger pickup.

Yeah, already ripped on him about the truck-car he drives I personally don't like them very much. Didn't know about the exhaust, that's funny.

I think the tires in the commercial were Bridgestones if I'm not mistaken...

The 1g tire is BFGoodrich. But there's more to a tire than absolute grip. What about wet grip? Wear pattern? Steering feel? Cost?

BFG's are good tires but I think there's better ones out there. The Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec (or whatever) are AWESOME and they're not obscenely expensive.
