Removing old seats???
How in the world am I supposed to remove the front seats????
Does the carpet need to come out? I wanna put my new seats in! |

Slide them all the way back, you should see 2 hex head bolts, (6mm) then skide the seat all the way forward, you should see a few more.

Mine are 10mm bolts, but I'm sure the princable remains the same.
Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and socket, a 3/8 is too fat. Take the keg of beer out of the backseat, and THEN slide your seat all the way back. take out the two bolts. Get the hooker out of your front floorboard and THEN slide the seat all the way up. remove two bolts. Sometimes the bearings are shot in the seat, esp. the driver's side, so you may have to use persuasion. (read:crowbar)

I had to use a "L" shaped allen metric tool to get mine out. I couldn't get a socket of any sort in there---not enough space on my '87 at least.

Same issue here. Tried pushing the seat all the way forward to reach the rear bolts. Cannot come close to revealing the bolts. At least 2 inches short. That is the seat frame still covers the rear bolts by 2 inches.
Sliding the seat backwards, I am about 1/4" short from revealing the front bolts enough to get a socket on them. Passenger side I don't remember this issue but it's been a few months since I removed it. So I am giving up with the socket on the driver side. What other 10mm tools available for to get a socket-like tool onto it? |

spray the rails for a day or 2 with lubricant, totally rusted slides will eventually slide enough
