Wiper Problem
My windshield wipers on my 83 944 only work on the highest setting. Looking at previous post and the manuals I see that there is an interval relay, and motor (for the most part these look like the important parts). The PO replaced the motor prior to me getting the car which did not fix the problem so he threw in an extra motor. However I doubt he changed the relay. My question is does the relay control the wipers delay setting or the wiper all together. So if it was the relay would they still work on high ? Or does the motor control delay wiping, allowing it to work on high but not on delay ? I guess the biggest question is what do I replace first ?
Thanks Chris |

check leads
I had the same problem. Keep in mind that water can enter the area where the plug attaches to the motor body. The first thing I would do is simply clean all the leads at that junction, and check the switching mechanism in the steering column. This latter point may seem tricky, but it's really not, a few screws and if your careful, the housing will come right off.
Once the leads are clean, if there's still a problem, then I'd spend the money on addressing the relay.
