I found my old car!

1984 Porsche 944

Figured I'd share... ever have that moment where you go "hey that looks familiar... OH MY GOD THATS MY OLD CAR!"

The wheels and wires for the old sub in the back gave it away.

New clutch, TT rebuild, belt, main seal, I have a list about 2 pages long of things I replaced. It didn't show up for the longest time, she resurfaced! Hopefully someone finds it a good home. Had to share in case a 944 addict out there had the bug to buy one.

Looks like they are including the PS & AC belts for spares on the passenger seats!

Great looking wheels.

Someone will get a good car from the corner used car lot....
The price is too low from a used car dealer. ??????

No idea, that's what I was told the car was worth, I guess they're sticking with it on the price. I was asking 3k when I was trying to sell it. I'm guessing they probably don't know much about them.

Those are the belts I had bought to replace when I got rid of the car, I guess no one changed them yet, haha!

I'm half tempted to call them up and show them the ins and outs of the car to make sure it goes to a good home. But I don't feel like being their personal mechanic, either. What do you guys think?

Lol___ Don't do that, they migth boost the prize up,and whoever want to buy it migth not be able to afford the extra money & your old car migth miss a good home. What you can do do is inform them if a potential buyer show up they can refer him to you.

I think they don't care what kind of home it goes to. If someone wants to give them $3000 so they can set it on fire and throw it at Mount Rushmore they'll write up the paperwork and deposit the check.

Good points guys. I really don't feel like being their personal mechanic haha. I hope it finds a good home. Figured id share with you all in case anyone in the community is looking for one that's mostly gone through. I think its the emotional attachment of putting so much time into it.

Understand exactly what your saying some of us put so much time trying keep them updated & running like they did years ago, that they kind of grow under your skin .Miss wrenching on my old 944.But in a way I was lucky sold it to a young man who take very good care of it, plus he is located only 20 minutes from me & it's very rewarding when he pops in my driveway once in a while, even had a chance to drive it a couple of time since I sold it.

How did it end up on a used car lot? I thought you sold it not that long ago?

No, I tried to sell it for months and months. Nothing happened. I traded it in. The guys I traded it in specialize in old hotrods, muscle cars and sports cars and said they were going to sell it on their lot, so I was okay with it. Apparently they didn't do that and sold it to the highest bidder... and it went to this mom and pop car lot.

Strange story. I'm looking on craigslist today for Porsche parts. Usually anything from used cars to parts show up so I sort through it. I noticed there was no 84' 944 for sale anymore in craigslist. I thought "hmm that's odd." so I typed in looking for the old for sale ad. Sure as hell, it was gone!

I called up the dealer asking if they'd sold it. Mind you there's a TON of those cars for sale on craigslist in oregon right now.

The sales guy said "Yeah weird story, some guy from an entirely different state bought it."

We talked for a few and it sounds like they were a Porsche nut. I can only hope it was someone on one of the communities I posted up on and gave it a good and happy home. With all of them for sale.... and mine not being cosmetically the best, and definitely not the cheapest... it makes me wonder why someone in an entirely different state would pick out a dealer car of all of them, unless hopefully they knew or saw one of my threads lol.

So if that is indeed the case and you bought my old car, take care of her and enjoy I hope to see it resurface on one of the forums someday from a happy Porsche fanatic.
