Rear Seat Removal - How ??

Trying to work out how to remove the rear seats from my 944S2 Cab ( I am told rear seats are the same in all of the 944's !! )

It appears they are glued in ? I am hoping someone has done this before and can advise and that they are simply screwed or cliped in ?

The local NZ "specialist" compliance centre is about to "rip" them out to find the rear seat belt mounts, just to check the bolts..

Thanks,

Simon :-)

I have removed the rear seat from a 924.

The seat bottom is held on by some clips on the top back of it and is also glued on. I think you can acces the clips by pulling up the carpet in the back it didn't take much to pull the seat bottom out after removing the clips. The seat back is held in place by a bolt on either side of it. It would be easier to remove the seat back after the bottom section of the seat if possible. I removed the seat back first so I'm not positive that the bottom can be removed first. The problem I ran into was the bolts holding the back on hit the bottom when removing them.

yeah i did this in my 924,used a ratchet so it made it alot easier, just had to push the lower seat edge to one side a bit to get the ratchet on the bolt. then it worked itself off. supporting the upper section while you take out the bolts helps (chock it with a telephone book or bits of wood)....Leadfoot

Who are these people that want to check your car..is it a government inspection service? The rear belts on my 83 are attached buy 3 inch bolts through the seat and they tread into a welded in thread in the body.Removing them is relativly easy ...clips and a putty knife to loosen the glue...putting them back is another matter you will need some contact glue and make sure it wont react to the molded foam that forms the seat.If this is an inspection service they had better be prepared to reimbirse you as they are not to be easily removed as in most cars.

Thank... Yes this is called Compliance !!!! When you bring a "new"
car in NZ you have to comply with the current road rules....

So they check a number of things - Beaurcacy gone mad....

Have already pulled the rear seats out no damage to seats just glue etc...

Nop they dont give you a $$$ repair the damage.... So once its finnished its off to the trim shop.....

Thanks for your reply...

Simon
