Antifreeze Again
I've read the previous post and feel pretty confident about the type and brand of anti-freeze. But I live on well water which is EXTREMELY hard water. I use a water softner in the house but I don't want the salt in my car and I don't want the calcium from my water in it either. Is disstilled a good alternative or should I find someone in the city to get water from ?

Go with distilled water.

Either distilled or de-ionized water will work great. Either one is cheap insurance for your cooling system. It is really no problem to use a phosphate containing coolant in an aluminum system if you use one of the purified waters, but if someone adds makeup water that is not purified (contains chlorine, calcium, magnesium, etc. as most city drinking water or filtered water does) then the phosphates come into play and corrosion, electrolysis and/or deposits can result. I use distilled water and a Dex-Cool antifreeze to be safe.

Thanks for the help. I've heard to many arguments over distilled or regular water. But in my case which of two evils is better.
Thanks |

Go with distilled. That's what I've been using for years.
