power steering rack <pics>

88 944turbo

so after four hours of wrestling with this, she seems to be secure and plumbed. however, what connects to the lower red plug on the right. i know about the x-over tube, that is to be installed above ( just press in fittings ). i just cant recall the other.

thanks rick

Thats where you look to see the dimple to center the rack... just did this job a few months ago, wish mine was that clean. Well designed system, I was impressed. Just dont mess the threads up on the bolt that clamps onto the imput shaft of the rack.

thanks stephen, but uhhhh...i have already installed everything i just went and pulled the plug and ( drum roll ) BAM !!! there was the red dot. lucky me or was i. it was off center +- 1/8 of an inch with my wheel position squared up. i am pretty sure i was flat with the shaft during installation; or i am guessing i wouldn't been able to install the locking bolt. do you think it will be ok.

signed,

"ready to do again, if i have to"

I could be wrong but it looks like the bolt used on the motor mount may be too long and may damage the mount.
