cold air intake?

has any one used this it looks like it would pull the air from the fender well to this enclosed filter (no affiliation) 3" Yellow Adjustable Cold Air Intake+Filter+MAF Adapter - eBay (item 300537851067 end time Mar-24-11 14:37:10 PDT)
what do you guys think as my PO installed a cone filter, I have the air box but like the openness of the cone.
comes in 3 colors I have found so far on Ebay but $20 shipping? seems very high.

Agreed probably a waste especially if the inside of that tube isn't smooth. If it is ribbed along the length I would think the flow would be terrible.

My 2 cents why would you want to hang a filter off a pipe out in the open because it looks cool
then put oil on the filter to fill the pipe with dirt and oil right into the AFS then to the TPS and into the motor good valve lube and then the water when it rains great for bending rods you now
have a 85hp Johnson outboard i raced motorcycles for 30 years been there done that
you could paypal the 40 bucks to me i could use the money on my Porsche not trying to be mean
I DON'T LIKE COLD AIR SYSTEMS

Just thought I would ask, I have access to Stainless steel smooth wall flexible pipe 3" could I use this to relocate the "cone filter" to the wheel well, would this be better than the OEM?
or should i just re install the OEM air box with K&N filter and keep my $40 for the K&N?
thanks

My 2.5 has a cold air intake from the fender, which is then routed through an air filter big enough for a V8. Can you guess where is was installed?

doesn't the stock air box get its air from the fender?
I think I will just re install the stock air box and install a K&N filter
but I do like seeing what others have done.

WAIT!

Search for K&N filter haters.

(I do have one and prefer paper)

____I know that Matty the pics send was meant to serve as an example, since James was asking for cone filter installation idea.

Best decision you will ever make reinstall the OE air box, until someone come up with a better idea.

I'm not a k/n hater they make great products BUT oiled filters going through sensors don't work well after a while unless you clean alot

Sparky __This set up is not mine but of a 951 ,my car is a 968 with the (968 engineering mod air box (DIY) a K&N and a promax chip).Contrary to the 924S/944-S-S2 & 951 this mod on a 968 with the conjunction of what is mention above will conservatively net you approximately 10 to 15 more HP.The beauty of it is once done & the engine bay trims reinstall you can tell it's been done everything look original in there.
