new belts

I changed my AC and power steering pump belts yesterday 85.5 na 944 with 118000 miles, not hard to do, how long before they need to be changed again?
BTY I save the old belts in the car, just in case one blows I can fix it on the road to get home (I could drive the car without PS or AC but I would not want to).

I change when glazing, cracking or fraying start appearing. I also keep spares in trunk for same reason.

Considering the fact that you carry spares in the car (as do I), added to the fact that you wouldn't even need them to get home, if it light out and not extreemly far away (due to no charging of the battery), the following should be and acceptable answer to your question:

The amount of time that it takes for them to fail - which can vary greatly, depending on many factors.

But it would be a good idea to change them if a visual inspection indicates that they are nearing their failure point.
