Fly wheel reference sensor studs

Hey Guys, I have a 1987 944 2.5l 8v that will not run because I believe my ex-boyfriend who installed my new clutch and flywheel did not put some detrimental pieces in place. I believe they are called reference studs, although porsche wanted to call them pulse sensors. I do not remember the flywheel including any extra pieces but I may be mistaken. Its a light-weight aluminium fidanza... Does anyone know where I can get these studs? Or if they are special? I have called several porsche dealers, been in touch with horsepowerfreaks.com which is where i ordered the flywheel from... No one seems to know what im talking about exactly. The car has been a long, drawn out project but its my dream to be behind the wheel cruising down the street. I would be so greatful on some advice. Thanks

I just recentl installed a lightweight flywheel. My flywheel however was previously used so im not sure what comes with it new.

#1 the set screw on the flywheel has to be installed and the height adjusted and some loctite to keep the set screw in place. if that screw is not there then the car will not start from what i know. but i could be wrong.

#2 You're BF had to have removed the reference sensors ( 2 of them) also called pulse sensors. those might have been mixed up apon installation.

It's allways good to check the gap of the sensor to the flywheel ring gear, if its too close it might get chewed up. Same with the Set screw on the flywheel that might eat up the 2nd sensor if not adjusted properly.

I hope for you're sake none of the sensors got chewed up or else you will need new ones.

The problem with the Fidanza flywheel is that it also does not have a Top Dead Center mark scribed on it like the stock flywheel. I had to scribe one on mine just in case the t-belt ever broke or would need service. ( something to think about)

WHat i would doo is pull the Reference sensors out which are located on the rear of the engine on top of the bell housing and check there condition to see if they got chewed up. IF not that's great. then i would from under the car remove and see if you are able to see a set screw on the flywheel

Part 23 is called the "threaded pin" #477 105 276

AA_Ezra is correct on the specific height and loctite needed. (#1)
He may have the specification.

Pelican---buy your parts from our sponsor--- sells the pin (stud).

when i did my clutch i mixed up the speed and reference sensor. masking tape i used to mark them didnt hold up to use kneeling on top of the engine.

with them swapped, as ezra said, the engine will not fire.

in other words, try swapping the location of the two sensors. they are located directly above the flywheel, accessed from under the hood, and held in place by an allen key head bolt.

I thought the two sensors are the same? Can't you just swap what connector they are plugged into?

If that flywheel stud is missing I would not buy the one here on pelican only because that one is not long enough to have sufficient threads to go into the flywheel safely.

Btw I had my flywheel balanced after the set screw was at the correct height and thread sealant applied as it was enough to throw the balance off.
If it ends being you need themset screw I
Will look for my notes on the set height

I had to buy a longer stud for mine too.
You need to use the old flywheel to mark TDC on the fidanze and then set-up the stud. I hate to tell you this but that clutch probably needs to come back off to get the flywheel set-up. I just hope you don't have to remove the transmisison, torque tube, and bellhousing to get to it....
Where are you located? Maybe someone close can help.
