Unhappy some one please cheer me up... deep state of depression

ok.....

this week some &*%(_)&*)_ stupid old lady who thinks she can drive her 2001 kia rio backed into my only pride and joy 87 944 when she was inocentely parked...: (

now she's at my local porsche dealer, luckily she stuck around so the insurance stuff is all set but i will be very depressed with out her for the next couple months because the dealers body shop is all backed up. i want it there becuase i want the repairs to be as perfect as possible. she even did &(^)&(^%#%#@ suspension damage she was backing up so fast.

does ne one have similar expierence here? i wonder if they would re-paint the whole car becuase they are replacing my whole passenger door + rear quarter panel any way? i like my gray but guards red would be nice... i am probably pushing my luck though

anyway just wanted to let u guys know and see if u have any similar expiereces with repair sucess stories attached to them to cheer me up.

-Scott

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I doubt that they would pay for a full repaint, but it's worth asking. Personally, I would prefer grey over guards red because of grey's increased exclusiveness. I still like the ever-popular guards red, though.

I know this won't cheer you up, but many other guys on this board have had a horrible past few weeks, lots of wrecks happening. myself included

You don't want to change colors.......thats bookoo bucks if done correctly, you could possibly get them to do the whole car if they can't color match but with the new machines paint shops have they have a very good chance of matching it.

Sorry about your misfortune. Don't assume the Porsche dealer does a great job on the paint. I've seen crap come from both the dealer and the places they send you -- ask around your local P-car guys who does good work. They will be better and cheaper, though maybe not a lot cheaper (you may get a total respray for nearly the same price). I don't recommend a color change either -- difficult to get right more money than you want to spend. Give-me-a-ticket-red?

Definately listen to the others. Do not change colors. It depreciates the car by at least 10% if it is not original. Next ask the PCA in your area for a good shop in your location. The shop can work with you on the quote you submit to the ladies insurance company. They must pay for your car to be returned to like new condition. You can then go back to the shop and see where you can save a bit of money and put it towards a complete repaint. (again not changing colors though)

Just as a reference. My Father had his Carrera $ repaired at a shop that a Porsche dealer highly recomended. It came out like crap! The repair was $16,500! It was covered under insurance but the job was crap. Paint on door bubbled, paint on front fender pealed, chassis was not properly straightened.... and on and on. Anyway he did not care much for the car after the accident so he never got anything fixed, just had the suspension properly adjusted by a very good guy in Conn.

Oh I have seen many shops work.... some times good some times ... real bad! It can varry even in the shop. It depends on who does the work. Make sure you visit the shop and see a car they just finished. Talk to the guy that will shoot it and tell him what you want and do not want to see. My 924 is about to come out of the shop. The owner is glad to see it go. I made him repaint many of the pannels. Anyway it is still not perfect... but I want it back and it is 100 times better than it was.
