Turbo/S2 nose and fenders
Hello, I currently have a 87 944 N/A. I was interested in upgrading the fenders to the 944 Turbo. I just wanted to make sure I got everything down.
First I have to buy the turbo shock absorbers for the bumper and the bumper support bar. Then I have to change the Nose panel with a turbo version. For the front bumper I wanted to go with the Le Mans version which GT-Racing sells. The area were I think I'm lost is in the fender area. I was told by a friend that if I change the fenders to Turbo fenders, that they would not be bolt on. That the N/A has less connection areas then the turbo. Would it be hard to add the Turbo fenders? Also what is the difference between the headlight covers on a N/A and a Turbo, they both look the same to me. Is it hard to replace the covers? Last edited by 944group; 11-25-2006 at 03:46 PM.. |

I was unaware of any difference between the NA and turbo fenders aside from the cut at the front for the nose panel.
The headlight covers and the center panel are different. If you are just interested in getting the smooth nose, there are versions available that will fit the NA fenders' nose cut-outs. Also, you should change your thread title to say that you want the Turbo/S2 nose and fenders. There are a lot of people who try to put a turbo on an NA engine and most people ignore those threads. Unfortunately, with the current title, your thread looks like another old "how do I turbocharge my NA" thread and you won't get as much traffic as you're looking for.

thanx for the fast response... I did go ahead and change my title... I did notice that when I was browsing through the forum... Ive decided to do away with the 944 engine altogether.......
I kind of thought so with the fenders.... So when I have the chance i'll go to this 944 graveyard and hope a turbo is in there..... Now the nose I want is from Lindsyracing. Its called the stage 5 header and look very aggressive and I know its made specifically for the Turbo...... Now the headlight covers..... does this mean only the metal part at the top or does the whole assembly have to be changed? Also in all the mag'z I have looked in they do not specify whether the covers are for a Turbo or N/A...... I guess ill hope and pray those are at the grave also.... |

i noticed you are located in Miami... i am just curious as to where is this 944 graveyard you mention is located?!
If they dont have a turbo 944, I have relatives who own a junkyard in Miami which has about 5 or 6 944's, last time I went there there were a couple turbos.

I would phone Lindsay Racing and see if they can help you. They are supposed to have excellent service from what I have heard about them.

yes lindsay does have good service.... They actually told me all that I need...... Drift that would be awsome if you could find out for me..... If I cant find the fenders for a reasonable price then Ill buy the fiber glass one.... I am not a fan of the carrera GT look.... nor the turbo with those square lights... I plan on getting the Le'mans version but modifing it to make it street legal........... Even the rear is going to be redesigned, with instead of the square look a more exotic round tail light... infact the ones from the 2007 passat. It will have 2 american versions toward the inside and 2 euro version towards the outside.... Then the last things will be paint, then engine swap.

your title still reads 'NA to Turbo'... you have to change that - you just changed the title of your first post.
that said, there was an aftermarket front bumper that looked just like the turbo front bumper, but fit without changing the fenders or headlight covers or nose panel.

AIR sells a fiberglass front end that will match the header panel, headlamp covers, and the NA fenders. I think it's like $425.

signals ligths unless you can find some from a part car but ( they don't show up use very often)the secret here is like with any fiberglass parts don't matter where you buy don't expect it to be a (what I call a slap on job) a little knowledge in body work & fabricating is a must & patience is the name of the game in order to have a perfect fit.GL ![]()
