I have my base dyno results from last week:
198 RWHP, 192 RWTQ
Now, I was hoping for right around 208 RWHP and 200 RWTQ but it's obvious that my numbers are low. My car has 180k miles so at first I attributed the low numbers to slight loss of compression. After thinking about it some more and seeing John do some calculations, it all came together. Bill's 951 with ~72k miles dynoed about 180 RWHP [not sure about torque] thus driveline loss calced out to be 17%. Since I have the same turbo tranny I did the math and with 236 flywheel HP I should get 196 RWHP...I pulled 198. Another calculation I did considers the longer 4th gear of the 951 tranny compared to the 968 6 speed. The 4th gear ratios for the two gearboxes are 1.034 and 1.110, respectively. I divided 198 RWHP by the 951 4th gear ratio, then multiplied it by the shorter 968 4th gear ratio. This yields the hypothetical power output if I still had the 6 speed in the car of 212 RWHP and 206 RWTQ, so I'm pretty satisfied. I'm returning to SFR in two weeks to complete the chip; the 968 ECU is INCREDIBLY difficult to read and program for...this is very likely why so many previous tuners did a *****ty job making chips for the 968. SFR is trying their best and taking as much time as they can to find power in the 968! I'll be frank: Tim and John, you guys kick a$$!!
