1987 924s Clutch Problem

Ok so it all starts i took my car to have a starter and distributor cap put on. When i went to pick up my car the battery had died and we had to tow the car home. When i got home and charged the battery and got it started the clutch would not engage. I was wondering what could have caused this and if i have to put a new clutch in it or could this be a smaller and cheaper fix.

So how does the pedal feel? It could be a hydraulic problem with slave cylinder or master cylinder. I would replace both at once. You might try bleeding to see if that makes it better.

Thanks

James

Any oil puddle on the ground in the bellhousing area or inside under the clutch pedal (on the carpet)?

This might sound daft, but the starter is near the clutch slave cylinder. It's possible when they replaced the starter they've knocked the clutch slave, or maybe they've disconnected or loosened it for some reason, which would mean the clutch doesn't release (I'm not sure what you mean by won't engage, do you mean it won't separate engine from drivetrain so you can't shift into gear, or do you mean it won't join them, ie it won't move?).
