Who has crumbling speed & ref sensor plugs?
Who else has this issue?
Both my speed and reference sensor plugs are crumbling. To say the least, it is VERY annoying to have to stop on the side of the road to plug one back in after my car stalls for no good reason. I am looking into replacement plugs and if I order them, I will probably be able to get a decent price if I order them in bulk. I will also see if I can order the rubber sleeve that goes over the plug and makes a seal on the wire. It's gotta be worth a $10 or so to replace the plugs rather than buy whole new sensors!

I took a look at texasblake's site:
$17.76 each? ouch. And that's for 2-pole injector plugs. The plugs I'm looking at shouldn't cost NEARLY that much. Oh, and they'll also be the correct 3-pole Jetronic plug to use on the speed/ref sensor. Barrel crimper? They work OK. Thanks but no thanks, I'll be soldering.

ahh, yeah I checked the NAPA part number he had on the site...
BTW I just looked at the link you sent, it's listed as bosch female connector only. I am talking about replacing the male connectors on the sensors - they are the ones that seem to waste away to nothing. Oh, and on that site, the boot for the connector is over $12... yikes! I looked for a month for Bosch Jetronic 3 pole male connectors before I found a supplier that actually carries them - now I'm just waiting on a sample and pricing.

Yes you are right ,sorry i forgot they were male. If your supplier comes thru please let me know ,i need them too.
Since we are on this subject ,by any chance your supplier also carries the round boots for the connectors that go at the front n/a turn signals ?

Come to think of it, I could use some of those as well.
It may not be for a few days (or a month like this case), but I will certainly look into seeing just what I can get my hands on.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. All I had to do was look for 'AMP' 3 pole connector.
You know, I searched for just '3 pole connector' and that never came up (trust me, I searched through page after page of results). I wonder if it's a recent listing...

This is also why I have a manufacturing job even though China has multiple times tried to copy and sell our own product line. Lives are on the line with what I make, and people don't trust the Chinese knockoffs when 100% good parts count. Sadly, some of Americans that I work with don't seem to care to always ship good stuff. I've had to pull stuff that they would of shipped out before, they wouldn't re work, so I've ended up staying later than I should to replace stuff that was messed up by the guy in assembly. Funny you should post this, I'm working on my clutch job on my '84, and I'm not sure if the male or female side, but the connector just broke apart when I bumped it while trying to pull the speed and reference sensors.

the BMW sensors are that cheap, eh? that's really not bad - it doesn't make any sense why the BMW part would be so cheap while the 'Porsche' part is so expensive. I will repair mine and hopefully be able to offer some cost-effective replacement plugs to a few of you guys so we can avoid paying the piper, even if just for a little while

Did anyone source a place to get the round boots that go over the turn signal connectors?
