Give my car a listen please?

Just a quick video of the car moments after starting and a little revving.

Any feedback or opinions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Belt service history? Something in there sounds unhappy.

Yeah I have no belt service history. Just got the car.

Unfortunately I cannot do anything for a week and a half and my other car died so I have to drive this...but I am doing so very gingerly.

____Maybe you should take a look at those belts ASP (meaning rigth now) unless you feel very lucky this week.Remove the front belt cover, it take 15 minutes & have a look.

If ya just got this car ....I wouldn't run it another minute without having a look at the belts. Lotsa bad things happen if you don't. It's not a matter of luck.....it's a matter of time.

I appreciate all of the advice. Beyond looking like a total mess is there anything in particular I should look at on the belts?

I will take that front cover of 1st thing in the morning and give it a look.

Got 5 of the 10mm bolts off of the timing belt cover (decided to go out tonight (11:00 pm here) and take a quick peek.

Cannot find the 6th 10mm bolt (seems like it is on the bottom, any hints?). Really too late to do anymore so I will finish looking tomorrow. What I could see didn't appear scary at all; granted that was an abbreviated look.

Thanks for all of the helpful advice.

balance shaft belt too taut. reason why it sounds like it has a blower. I would replace the belts right away since you don't know how old they are, or if they are properly tensioned. If must drive. granny it... lol

I changed the belts when I bought mine as they had not much mileage but a few years on them. As long as you follow the excellent write ups on Clarks and here it's not that difficult and took me about 4 hours working very slowly I think. I bought a krikit tool but didn't end up using it as couldn't really get the hang of it - used the waterpump pulley twist method instead.

The belts aren't very expensive, certainly worth the money to stop worrying about trashing the engine anyway. Rollers are quite expensive for the whole set, but depends what condition they're in whether you need them (I changed mine, but the ones on there were probably fine).

When I did it a second time on my parts car (just to make sure I didn't blow the engine when I started it) only took me about an hour and a bit to change.

Mike

Is that an unhappy roller also in the video? Sounds like more than just a tight belt to me.
