A/C amplifier

I have an 86 944 Turbo, had my A/C converted to 134 a couple months ago, worked fine for about a month then I blew a seal on the compressor. I now have a new compressor and drier, took it to the A/C shop to have it charged with 134 and they are not getting any power to the compressor. I have read about the A/C amplifier, sounds like it could be a possibility but I am not sure if the amplifier was on the 86 models?
Anyone know?
Rusty

i've seen them go bad, i would get to it and check that signal is going in/coming out of it, after the amplifier the signal goes through the low side pressure switch....jump the switch and see if it comes on......if not you'll need to pull the glove box to get to the amp to check signal there....
i've seen more pressure switches die than amps....

I agree. Always start by jumping the low side switch then the high. This will tell you for sure. Switches fail far more.
