Very unusual technical question?
I purchased a used early one piece retrofit OPRV for a 1983 – 1986 944 part number 94410703511 from the classified site here and noticed no spring inside. I’ve heard of running without this spring for troubleshooting the dreaded oil filter leak (over pressure) although I doubt that would work.
Does anyone know if the spring is the same inside the early and late one piece OPRV? I have a couple late OPRV's. Anyone change this spring out yet? Can this spring be replaced via dealer by a part number or local hardware store? TSB-19017 didn't show any part numbers for the spring, but I would imagine someone has replaced this spring on a high mileage car. Thanks for any info gained here! ![]()

I would check with Pelican parts or the dealer.
Pelican does show a oil pressure relief spring for the 911 Pelican Parts - Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche & BMW Not intended for the 944 but they may have the information you need. The OPRV is a pressure limiting device. IF you had the correct equipment and could measure the pressure needed to compress the 1 piece OPRV, lets say 35 to 70 ft pounds, you could try to find a spring that matches this pressure to compress and use it on the upgraded 1 piece OPRV you have. I am sure the Germans have over built the spring to last in an engine. GL John
