Need Tech Advise
my 81 924 started making this loud shuddering noise durring hard cornering it scared the **** out of me the first time i thought it was the cv joints i removed the cv joints today and they are worn but i dont think they are worn enough to cause that noise i hope i am wrong though i will order the parts and some redline gear oil today
but here is the question do i need to look at the transmission as the cause in the haynes manual under the troubleshooting section it says if you hear a clunking noise while cornering check the planatry gear for wear is this as bad as it sounds i thought these transmissions were bulletproof

Have you thought about re-packing the bearings or has is been done recently??? Just a thought, but I've had some bearings do the same in other cars but not in a 944. Luck...Jim H

the outer race and the bering cage show wear two of the outer races have groves in them from the ball berrings after 100k i figure i will replace them the wear just did not seem to allow for enough play to cause the noise
