Rigging Speed sensor??my idea.
 

No racist comments please!! we alll know what edited - Z-man rigging means . And has nothing to do with race or color as far as im concerned!!!. im not from this Planet Anyway..
this is wacky but in a dyer situation . Alternate Parking 2x a day . go to move in morning and in afternoon. My speed sensor no good . Cant find in any part store . I need to order that take days . Car no start with out speed sensor . wire is broke off . with that said . we all kow i need to buy a speed sensor in order for car to start . If i cant move car car gets towed . i have an idea . but not enough knowledge on subject . And Im just a high school drop out , house painter . but i almost fully restored a 88 944 by myself . and i mean every possible system . on the street in front of my house . i never worked as a Mechanic and no1 ever showed or heped me or taught me anything about such . im self taught 144 IQ. period. but im still stupid . im reaching with a wacky idea .
here it goes .
#1--- is speed sensor and reference sensor the same? meaning function wiring and size ? i only removed speed sensor . if reference was put in speed slot and wired to speed connection would it work as a speed sensor ???? reason why------
the s a 3rd unused sensor ,i believe is used to test or calibrate the reference and speed sensor has a round unplugged connection. / does that do same as referece sensor???? if so can i take reference sensor intall in the speed slot ,and connect to speed connection. and then wire that 3rd unused sensor into the refernce connection . ????and would that start the car ??
This is a mcGyver type of solution. i need to be able to start my car 2x a day to move to other sid e of street so i dont get towed . i dont have the cash to bu from Porsche . and will order tommorrow . and will come in couple of days . that is not speedy enough . plus i like trying stuff never tried before as crazy as it sounds . i make lemonaide from sour ,spoiled grapes --ALL THE TIME .lol u have to see some things i made for around the house . . I n prison i made a tattoo gun out of a vcr motor ,tooth brush , pen ,needle and 3 batteries . and useed chess pieces ash as ink . . Yeah it worked fine and did many tattoos with that .
OR----
is there another solution for a broken speed sensor to start the car until i have a new one????

Hi Brooklyn758, The answer to your question is simple. The Reference and Speed Sensor are the same. The round Diagnostic Sensor will NOT work in their place. You have to buy the Speed Sensor.

BTW my 944 has the Frozen bearing clutch assembly In place of the rubber damper . I posted a started problem I had ,messing up with the flywheel . But not to bad for a PaInter . As far as mechanIcs go .

I had to read it 5 times before I could understand all of what the subject was. My first thoughts were installing a Plastic Electric Turbo Charger on the exhaust for extra starting power - and so on.

All I could make of the weird and offensive post was that the extra-planetary dude wants a reference sensor, but can't wait.

This eBay seller has them going, OE, for about US$55. He got one to me, on the other side of the world, within a week. I'll bet he could get it to you the next day.

well thanks for the comments and replies . Some got laughs ,which is good , some got heated , and others flustered. What i expected . Plastic turbo charger ??/ where can i get 1 . Dik!!!
i tried cutting in half exposed the leads . I did and successfully ,soldered and got a reading on the 8-23 ,i think ,leads.But the outside lead gave me nothing . the surrounding metal in the wire must have been connected to a small wire or something that i could not find ,or maybe exposed . I thought just because of the proximity it gave resistance . but was wrong .
My girl gets home from Prison today . 9 months only . but shes going to want to see me , Dont have to much sensor hunting in junkyards but will try ,..And definitely order a new 1 as soon as some of you guy contribute to the cost . . Or it would be a nice early xmas present ,. in return ill take you on a Life threatening , scare you white(for rasta man),ride on the FDR drive at 100+mph in moderate traffic . A horizontal , Real ,real-life roller-coaster . Its a nice run at night but ,now its a little wavey and dippy. A true test of your suspension . . I love the speed and more the handling of a car.
