New member needs help
First let me say hello to all the Porsche enthusiasts around the World.
![]() Maybe not the best way to start off 'cause I know you guys hate to keep answering the same questions over and over. Just don't have the time or patience right now to search the forum... and my knees are killing me. Just want to lay down and ice them. Can I get an Amen out there ? Had an '83 944 stored. I'd go start it about once a month and let it get warmed up before taking it to 5k. I think the problem is pretty obvious... I went to the BMV and bought new tags before I went over to check the car again. Won't start. Went through the typical protocol. Fuel pump was working. I'm getting spark ( tries to fire up w/ ether... plus I used a spark tester) Tried a different working ECU. Unscrewed the cap from the fuel rail and quite a bit of gas was coming out but it wasn't shooting across the garage. Not having a fuel pressure gauge I'm wondering if fuel pressure may be a problem and confusing the ECU. I put in a new clutch a while back and can't remember if I used the old speed sensors or bought new ones. That's all I can think of and it goes without saying... any help will be much appreciated. Cheap and cheerful - with a 9-volt battery or motorcycle battery charger, pulse each injector a few times. You'll hear a click as each one opens. The process is easy: unclip each injector's connector and briefly put voltage across the contacts on the injector. This'll unstick them if they're stuck, as each time you apply voltage they'll open (you hope). Do not leave them connected to your power source - you'll cook them.

Certainly will give that a try.
Something occurred to me as I was laying down.... the car had been stored for a couple years w/ no fuel stabilizer. Bad gas maybe ? |

I would start by draining the gas tank and cleaning the rest out of the tank with a coat hanger and rag attached through the sending unit hole on the hatch trunk area. Hopefully that would do the trick. My bad gas ruined my fuel pump but the injectors were ok. You can check your pump without a gauge by using the hose and jug method but I can't remember how much is suppose to come out in 15 second of cranking over the engine.

I would expect "a lot" of gas in 15 seconds, like a soda can's worth or more. You have to crank the engine to energize the fuel pump. The DME relay might be an issue, you could jumper it as per clark's garage.

He's got spark and fuel, so I figured the sensors were okay.

Was it the gas? Sounds like that would be "a" problem, if not "the" problem
