Missing trip odometer switch
When I took my dash out to install a new odometer gear, as per Clark's, I did not see the re-set switch that is circled in the picture. There was nothing attached to the inst. cluster except for the three (?) gang plugs. Is this something that can slip behind or under the dash area? Did the PO, or someone else remove it for some reason? Where does it attach to the cluster? On a side note, the clear plastic that protects the inst. cluster on my car was dull and hazy and some minor scratches. I had polished the lens covers over the headlights on my wifes car. It was a 500 grit, 800 grit and a rubber disc used with water. I polished the cover and it looks brand new.

The odometer reset switch is just to the right of the instrument cluster in the plastic grill that you removed to get access to the instrument cluster.

There is a small push switch there that is wired into the dash cluster. If you take off the gauge surround you should see it there just to the right of the gauges (Behind where the push button on the surround was). A smallish rectangular black plastic switch ( 1" x 3/8",approx) with two wires coming out of it that go to the gauge cluster. Once you find the switch you will have to look for and find a small hole off to the right of the cluster that a peg on the back side of the switch slips onto to mount the switch. Once it is mounted make sure when replacing the Gauge Surround that the push button fin in the vent area matches position so the switch can operate.
If you find the switch and if it is no longer wired to the gauge cluster check back and we can use the electrical schematic to re-attach it. Not to hard as one wire goes to a certain spot on the back of the right most cluster plug and the other wire is a ground.
